General description

Catalytic afterburning (CABO) is a proven and energy-efficient method for cleaning industrial exhaust air and reducing harmful emissions. In the Allokat series systems, unburned hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and other organic compounds are reliably oxidized using a catalyst and converted into carbon dioxide (CO₂) and water vapor.

Catalysts: Ceramic honeycomb coated with precious metal

A key advantage of catalytic afterburning lies in the comparatively low reaction temperatures made possible by the use of a catalyst. This significantly reduces the energy required for exhaust air purification compared to purely thermal processes.

In combination with a heat exchanger for preheating the raw gas, autothermal operation can be achieved even at low pollutant concentrations. This means that the heating value contained in the exhaust air stream is sufficient to maintain the required reaction temperature – thus minimizing additional energy consumption.

Catalytic afterburners are used in numerous industrial sectors, such as the coating industry, the food industry, and plastics processing. The use of high-quality catalysts ensures exceptionally high purification performance, enabling companies to significantly reduce their emissions and reliably comply with environmental regulations.

Another advantage of KNV technology is the small footprint of the systems. Especially when retrofitting existing production facilities, the Allokat series offers a compact solution for exhaust air purification, as it can often be integrated without extensive structural modifications.
